I have lived in many countries around the world and if you ask me about the country where it is easiest to spend Ramadan as an employee, I would say Saudi Arabia. Working hours in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan are so lenient that you don’t feel like you are working.

Article 98 of Saudi Labor Law stipulates a maximum of 36 working hours a week and 6 working hours a day in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan. Due to reduced working hours, it is a low season for the manufacturing and construction sector. However, the retail industry enjoys this season a lot as the overall spending of the people increases in the holy month of Ramadan.
Working Hours in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan for Non-Muslims
It is important to mention here that the reduced working hours during the month of Ramadan only apply to the Muslim workers. There is no time relaxation for Non-Muslim workers living in Saudi Arabia in Ramadan.
Non-Muslims will continue to work for 8 hours a day during the month of Ramadan. However, generally, companies set the timing for all Muslims and Non-Muslim workers to be 6 hours.
Overtime in Ramadan
If your employer is asking you to work for more than the allowed working hours in Saudi Arabia during the month of Ramadan, you are entitled to get overtime as per the rate prescribed in Saudi Labor Law.
As Non-Muslim workers are legally required to work for 8 hours a day during the month of Ramadan, they are entitled to get overtime for additional time worked after 8 hours.
The Timings of Government and Private Sector during Ramadan
The timing of all government sector entities, banks, and private companies change during the month of Ramadan. Most of the offices remain open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
