Why does SAMA blacklist people?
SAMA is the Saudi Arabian Monitory Agency which performs the function of a State Bank in Saudi Arabia. There are only 4 reasons SAMA takes an action to blacklist an expatriate or a Saudi which we have detailed below;
In case of default in making the repayment of a loan. For example, if you have not repaid Al Rajhi Bank personal loan on time and the bank complaints against you, the SAMA will blacklist you.
Abnormal activity in your bank account e.g. an extremely large amount of transfer to or from your bank account. There have been many cases where people are blacklisted by SAMA on making transactions on behalf of someone else through their bank accounts.

In case anyone is involved in terrorist activity and the government instructs the SAMA to blacklist him.
How to check if you are blacklisted in SAMA?
There is a simple way to check if you are blacklisted by SAMA. If you have a bank account, try to transfer some money to another account, the completion of the transaction would prove that you are not blacklisted by SAMA.
If you want to fully ensure your blacklisting status, try to transfer some money from your account to out of Saudi Arabia as sometimes SAMA blacklists people to transfer money abroad.
However, if you are already out of Saudi Arabia, there is no way to check if you are blacklisted by SAMA.
